There are couple of models on the market with a 'feature' which is an electronic control in the ECU to control the power especially in the first 3 gears. This is like r1 , burger king , vmax and several kawa models. Some of them has the possibility to switch off this control for a short period of time but most of them dont allow any user indicated modifications . The common in these models regardless is it burned into the brain of the bike for forever or might be switched off that we all know the feature is there .
We had a feeling that this feature has been launched many years ago - earlier than its official debut in the latest models . Many of you know that we have a very good background which is a dynojet garage which works with us in pretty close connection to make remapping, developements and we use it for identification of some weird electronic failures.
During these days we did several tests to understand better what is going on in the ecu in the low gears to find the answer on our feelings.
To make these tests we used some earlier models like cb1300 and a vfr800 .
I dont wanna kill your time to tell the hole story but we have read all the informations out from the ECU and based on our imaginations we prepaired a small electronic box to cheat the software in the ECU.
By the data what we found in ECU it seems when you twist the throttle it always reduces the throttle opening value by 10-30% . You think you are on the maximum but it is just 70% -80%. Difference might vary between 5-30 % depending on the rpm and gears
Result ?
We got 10-27% more power and torque in the first 3 gears and about 5-10 in 4,5,6 . Than we have modified our box a littlebit again and we got the factory power and torque figures but + 500 rpm in each gears . Now we are working on having a duplex box with longer rev range and more power at the same time.
For example cb1300 found extra 24! Ps in 3rd gear without any special modifications just using this small electronic box.
Than we have connected this box to a stock mt-01. We couldnt measure the first gear - too short , but we got 19 ps in 2nd 26 ps in 3rd 21ps in 4th and 20 ps in 5th gear ! We have a hieved these figures with connected o2 sensors with closed loop etc. We didnt make any special modifications except a pc3 with proper remap and connected black box.
With the same modification like on Honda we got 500 rpm more range as well.
Sounds promising
Pas le temps de tout traduire, mais en ce moment Otto envisage de produire une série de boîtes (prix : 100 € max) qui se branchent direct sur l'ECU et font gagner couple et puissance sur chaque vitesse. J'attends encore quelques renseignements, mais ça me tente bien...
